Paul Babcock
Biography
Paul Babcock was an American inventor and electrical engineer specializing in ultra-fast switching technology and energy-efficient motor design. He co-developed the SERPS (Switched Energy Resonant Power Supply) system with Jim Murray, which was dramatically demonstrated at the 2014 Energy Science & Technology Conference. Babcock's key innovation was achieving switching speeds of 5 nanoseconds — fast enough to capture and recycle energy that conventional circuits waste. He passed away in June 2024, making the preservation and continuation of his technologies a priority for the community. Aaron Murakami's A&P Electronic Media plans to continue releasing Babcock's work.
