Biography
Johann Ernst Elias Bessler, known as Orffyreus, was a German inventor who constructed several alleged perpetual motion wheels. In 1717, he demonstrated a 12-foot wheel that reportedly ran continuously for 54 days in a locked room. Its internal mechanical arrangements were never revealed.
